Becoming a patron allows you to support the stories you love.

Signing up for Patreon makes you a "patron" in the classical sense—someone who directly supports an artist's work. It allows writers and other creatives to continue doing what they love. Patrons pledge a monthly amount to support an artist's work, and in return they receive exclusive content and community access. With enough support, an author can afford to keep writing with the knowledge that their dedication to the craft will be rewarded. This gives artists like me a great incentive to keep creating.

Here’s how it works….

1) Visit my Patreon page.

Go to my page on Patreon. You’ll find it’s under my name, Brian A. Dixon, and that it bears the familiar Dick Byrne branding. Though I write all sorts of things on a regular basis, you’ll see that my Patreon primarily focuses on the Dick Byrne mysteries.

2) Click "Become a Patron."

Browse the list of different membership levels with various benefits. These range from the basic “Probationary” tier to the elite “Fire Chief” tier. You have options.

3) Select your monthly pledge amount.

Each tier offers different rewards. These include behind-the-scenes access, story downloads, audiobooks, art prints, an exclusive magazine, and a place in our mystery book club. Choose the tier that feels right for you based on your budget and level of interest, and know that every level of support makes a meaningful difference. Support starts as low as $3 a month—the equivalent of tipping me for a month’s work.

4) Create your account.

Creating a Patreon account is straightforward and secure. You'll need to:

  • Provide an email address

  • Create a password

This step is simple. It's similar to creating an account on any trusted platform, and it takes just a minute or two.

5) Confirm your pledge and choose payment.

Next, you'll confirm your monthly pledge amount and select your payment method. Patreon accepts:

  • Credit/Debit Cards

  • PayPal

You'll receive immediate confirmation of your transaction, so you can quickly verify that everything is exactly as it should be.

6) You're done! Welcome to the firehouse.

You are now a patron who has pledged their support for the proud tradition of the detective story. You'll immediately gain access to the patron-only content included in your tier, and you can be proud in the knowledge that you’re doing your part to ensure that Dick Byrne lives on!

7) You are in control.

Note that you can change or cancel your pledge at any time, no questions asked, no penalties. Simply:

  • Return to my Patreon page

  • Click "Edit your patronage"

  • Adjust your tier or cancel with one click
